Nick Mangold, former Jets nice, lifeless at 41
CINCINNATI — Jets legend Nick Mangold died on Saturday evening from issues of kidney illness simply two weeks after he publicly revealed he wanted a kidney transplant.
Mangold was 41 years previous. On Oct. 14, Mangold introduced that he had been identified in 2006 with a genetic defect that led to persistent kidney illness. He stated he had a “tough summer season” and was present process dialysis whereas looking for a kidney transplant.
“I all the time knew this present day would come, however I believed I’d have had extra time,” Mangold stated in a press release.
Mangold, who performed middle, was a first-round decide by the Jets in 2006. He went on to be one of many key items in a group that went to the playoffs 3 times and made it to 2 AFC Championship Video games. He was a two-time first-team All-Professional choice and seven-time Professional Bowler.
